The Batten School honors Thomas Jefferson’s legacy of public service with an ethos of learning by doing. Batten professors partner with NGOs and public agencies to create projects that double as coursework and consulting service, applying our skills to add real value to these organizations. These projects allowed me to practice new skills in a highly-relevant context, and gave perspective on the ways in which these skills can measurably improve the lives of my fellow citizens.
