Climate Summer

In December 2013, I went to New York with my roommate, where his older sister put us upmatt-and-jenna-fight-climate-change in her Brooklyn apartment. They are New Orleans natives, and spent a year displaced in Houston after Katrina. Our host had just lived through Hurricane Sandy as well, and radicalized me with her outrage about climate change and its terrible magnitude. We marched together through New York starting conversations with anyone who would listen.

I felt energized by the diverse array of people with whom this message resonated, and it motivated me to turn my policy studies toward environmental sustainability. This ultimately led to a stint as a Media Coordinator for one of Better Future Project’s anti-fossil fuel infrastructure campaigns in New England – that story is told in my blog, The North from the Saddle.
