My First Year at UVA, my hallmates and I attended a guest presentation from a group called One in Four. They took their name from the statistic that one in four college-age women survive sexual assault or sexual misconduct, and made it their mission to educate their fellow men about sexual violence and how to prevent it. I had been carrying the story of a friend who had been assaulted years before, and learning the terrible prevalence of this pain rocked me to my foundation. I auditioned, joined the group, and served it fervently, first as a rank-and-file presenter, then as Training Coordinator, then as President. My proudest accomplishments at UVA included modernizing our script and expanding our audience to new sectors of the community, the details of both can be found below.
